Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel - Kuta, Bali

“Discovery Kartika Plaza the best”
This is our fourth time in Bali and we had an amazing experience at the Discovery Kartika Plaza. First the rooms were amazingly spacious, we got the discovery suite. The staff at DKP were attentive, polite and eager to help out at all times. We stayed there for 10 nights and wanted to stay there for another 3 weeks.
I have so much praise for Indri and Utami at the Kids club there, they are so amazing with the kids. My daughter loved it there which made it nicer to go and do things like get suits and shop so much easier on your own. This was our first trip with a child to Bali, I am glad I chose Discovery Kartika Plaza as it was the relaxing holiday we all needed. Will definately stay here again if we go back to Bali. Wisnu (or Wiznu) from breakfast was super friendly and I am glad he was patient with me trying my Indonesian.
Lovely fruit and amazing food meant we didn't need to eat lunch. DKP was so close to the shopping centre (next door) and Waterbom and so many restaurants and ATMS that we didn't have to walk far. Tip re Bluebird taxis was great (much cheaper) and braids from Sari and Jodys is stil in a few weeks later. Loved it want to go back soon. Not sure I would travel in wet season again due to cyclones around though...6 hour turbulent flight over put me off next time will be dry season It's an expensive hotel but worth it.

“Great place”
It is a wonderful hotel close to Kuta shopping centre. It’s clean, has a well-maintained swimming pool, and the staff seems very helpful and efficient.
There is a nearby beach and lots of places in the garden with beach chairs as well as by the swimming pool. Perhaps you should use shoes at the beach as there are some pieces of the coral reefl lying around and they’re sharp enough to hurt a bare foot.
There’s evening entertainment if you’re up for that kind of thing.

“Never again....well...never say never...”
My friend and I had the opportunity to have a "mums getaway" and decided to go to Bali for a long weekend.I was looking at booking the Padma or Niksoma, but friends had recommended Discovery Kartika Plaza so that's where we booked. On arrival we were told (after the checking in process and welcome drink) we couldn't stay there due to the "ceilings falling in several days ago" and we had to stay at the Dynasty Hotel.
I had emailed Kartika Plaza the day before checking our booking and can show the response that states everything is fine. We ended up at the Niksoma (at my request) (see my review for Niksoma) for two days and when we finally checked in where upgraded to an Ocean View Room but not a twin single. Had to change rooms three times.
I can't adequately describe the feeling of utter dismay when we arrived to be told that we could not stay there. I have been to Bali many times over the last 25 years and have had many ups and downs but this would rate as my biggest disappointment as it was the most expensive hotel I had booked into and the first time I was able to go away without kids.
After having a good look at three different types of room, I wouldn't class this resort as 5 star. It's dated and needs upgrading. I also wouldn't trust them again to have my booking correct.

“What a location”
This is in my opinion the deserved owner of the number one spot in Kuta hotels.
Based on the beach front, next door ( yes next door ) to a shopping centre, the location could not be better. The luxury inside, and the food was delicious.
Every evening we would go out for a walk on the main promenade and shopping areas.
The hotel even arranged fishing for us !
There are some lovely childrens facilities at the hotel, and also some of the best massage services on the beach front.
This hotel caters for everything that you could want.
We loved the little animals that the staff made out of our hotel towels !
Loved this place.
